Re: What Are You Listening To?

Stephane,

I know it on occasion borders on easy listening (or is it effortless listening?) but this has always been one of those pieces that makes be glad I found it again and put it on.

I also think many acid/neo-jazz groups owe it a nod.

Re: What was your first rock concert?

I am impressed that people have such particular memory. From the fog I recall in 1966 being somewhere in London (or Kent) seeing Pink Floyd (well Syd Barrett is who I most recall). I am pretty sure that was before I saw Soft Machine. Those may not qualify as "concerts" I suppose. I do know...

Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1

I admit that Joss Whedon (Dollhouse excepted) can do little wrong for me. Funny because I can totally understand why someone would hate Dollhouse and I was ready to abandon ship so many times but I stuck with it and ended up liking it quite a bit. Maybe it was sort of a guilty pleasure but I ended ...

I am a bit surprised to hear this. I do not care for the dice and slash movies at all but this one I enjoyed a good deal. Not terribly scary but very funny.

Re: What Are You Listening To?

Never even heard that name before. What style is it? Very modern, post-bop music. I first heard him in a band called "Lost Tribe." My favourite "we play everything we want to but we always remember it's jazz." He's also on a bunch of others' discs I dig - Donny McCaslin : Perpet...

Re: Who I is.

Michael Burn is my name. I currently live in downtown Toronto which is, sadly, not much of a jazz town. My first jazz purchase, in 1967, was Pyramid by MJQ, the second was Giuseppi Logan Quartet. The mere scope of the music blew me away. It still does.
