Have you been involved in any twerking?

Postby steve(thelil) » September 10th, 2013, 3:08 pm

So far, despite considerable peer pressure, I have not done any twerking.

(And not because ducking autocorrect keeps wanting to change it to tweaking.)

On YouTube, one can watch twerking champions who compete in twerking team competitions or one-on-one match-ups. A few have become true twerking stars; they make money from their YouTube videos (somehow) and in-person appearances. I admired a couple of the stars, but after a day of watching lots of those videos, I did my best to forget all about it.

I misspoke. I did all my twerkwatching in a single day, but I didn't spend the whole day twerkwatching. Image

It's actually pretty disappointing.

I think if I attempted twerking I would throw my back out and end up in the hospital.

But the attempt would certainly bring tears of laughter to anyone watching.

I would hate to see the trophies awarded at the end of season banquet.

Nice. I was looking for somewhere to place this Private Eye cartoon.

I'm still stinging from the revelation that the twerking girl who caught herself on fire was a Jimmy Kimmel hoax. I mean, it wasn't so hard to tell it was a fake but I just wanted to believe.

I'd rather be the twerkee.

OK. I think the answer is actually more complex than one might think.

As I understand it, a person can twerk solo and what the solo twerker does is the essence of what twerking originally meant. However, twerking has come to the forefront in connection with Miley's televised tweaking at/with/against Robin Thicke.

So now, twerking also refers what Miley did TO Robin on the VMA's.

OK, now that this has been established, I agree that in where there is a two person twerk, the twerkee is usually the male.

I think we'll all be fine as long as we don't seek to emulate Miley Cyrus in anything we do.

I had to join the over 60 league in 2012, and I thought I would be competitive. NOT! There are some killer 60+ twerkers out there.
