Happy Father's Day!

Postby Ron Thorne » June 15th, 2014, 11:45 am

All three of my children are in California now, but I've spoken with each of them, which helps close the distance. Patti's 94 year-old Father returns from a trip tonight, so she will get to greet him at the airport.

Happy Father's Day to all Fathers who see this thread.

A YouTube video of the "Song for My Father" from the 1964 album---still my favorite version---
is
here.

Edit: Link replaced. Can nothing be trusted? The clip that I'd linked to omitted Joe Henderson's solo.

Thanks, Valerie.

I just got off the phone with Justin who called to wish me a Happy Father's Day. For the 1st time, I got to wish him one. Kai is one month old today. I spoke with our other son, Darren, this morning, and our daughter Terri, last night. It was a relaxing day, watching baseball on tv and enjoying grandson Cole, who joined us for dinner in our house.

Not that anyone asked, but my Fathers' Day kind of sucked. My mother-in-law died about a week prior, and my daughters and I spent the day in airports and on airplanes returning from Little Rock. My wife didn't come back until the following day.
Surely not all of a sudden. Less than half of a sudden at best.

My sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your mother-in-law, walto. Unfortunately, I lost my dear mother-in-law in 2011 after being very close for 50+ years, so I empathize. It still hurts.

Here's to a nice summer for you, your wife & daughters.

Walto---

No wonder your Father's Day (kind of) sucked. I'm very sorry to hear about your loss, and I too offer my condolences to you and your family. (No thanks required.)
