Late NY Giant cornerback Carl "Spider" Lockhart (who according to a reliable source was the inspiration for TV's "Dexter") was radioactive. He got his nickname after a spider he bit became the first Arachnid cornerback in the NFL.

Daniel Defoe was going to name one of his characters in Robinson Crusoe "Man Tuesday" but changed it when Tuesday Weld's lawyers sent him a threatening letter.

And...the protagonist was originally called Robinson Caruso but he couldn't hit the high C so Defoe renamed him Crusoe.
