Facebook is really no substitute for a place like this for me.
We have that many posters here on a pretty regular basis now, but I'd like to see at least 2 or 3 times that many to stimulate and sustain dialogue. I also would like to see new members posting, and more activity would help encourage that development.
I don't think most former Jazz Corner posters (for instance) have made a "permanent defection" to Facebook. I post on Jazztalk and Facebook daily. They are not mutually exclusive. It doesn't take that much more time to post on both sites, either.
I agree that FB is not a substitute for a place such as this. They are two entirely different formats.
