I think it's safe to say that most, if not all of the posters here, like jazz. ;) I've been a jazz fan for over 50 years.

What brought you here, and who do you enjoy listening to the most?

Ron, I'm just being stupid. Trying to get things started. This is actually the person formerly known as me wag.

I like jazz.

I love the fact that we're thinking "Oh, it's Me Wag" as if that's a normal sounding sentence.

Yeah, I get bored. I like pictures having to do with feet for some reason. My avatar right now is a Walker Evans photograph which I saw in the recently released book Cotton Tenants by James Agee.

I believe that was a pygmy jerboa. They are little desert hoppers.

I like jazz

even tho' it is unpopular
and most people avoid it like the plague
or think its all striped waistcoats and banjos
and men in funny hats
or
fellows in goatees
pontificating like
far out man
I thought that cat would never leave

I like jazz though
most people think Coltrane
is something that hauls carbon to the power station
that shearing is something you do with material
and mehldau is something you get with rising damp
yeah I like jazz
even though I don't know what it is

no, man. i LOVE jazz...most of it, anyway. st. louis blues, complete atomic basie, conrad herwig versions of wayne, trane & miles, bud, tatum, diz, all the peppers,
all the dukes, wes, grant green, a thousand chick singers...and won't somebody please dig up the alleged recording of the grandaddy of it all, buddy bolden?

too much enthusiasm?

for the possible one or two who stumble upon this site and don't know about buddy bolden, this seems a paean of some veracity:
