Re: Retirement

I lucked into a 10-hour-a-week job that pays me right under the earnings limits for taking social security at 62. Most every financial planner I talked to told me to hold off on SS until I turned 66. I opted to take it at 62, thinking I could put the four years of SS income in the bank if I am miser...

I've always been intrigued by his tone. I think he plays some ancient Conn tenor.

Re: Looks like extremists have come "home" to wreak havoc

This was a while back, but I heard where some young mother who ordered online a backpack for her school-aged son, and a pressure cooker to, well, to cook, got a visit from an FBI swat team. So, if you need a backpack and a pressure cooker, don't order them online at the same time or pick them up at ...

Re: Retirement

I left my full-time job at the end of September, and I am now working part-time. Even though I have a pension (small) and I am drawing social security, and get paid from my job, my income has dropped in half. My wife is still working, and will be for 18 more months, so our household income hasn't ta...

Retirement

I know we've established that there is an old crowd here, but I was wondering how many are retired from full-time work.

The one I am enjoying the most these days is The Bridge. I have the hots for the blonde Swede who plays a detective with a good dose of Aspberger's.

Sources for old records

It turns out that my son-in-law's twin brother is a collector of old records -- Bing Crosby, Al Bowlly, the swing stuff of the Dorseys, etc. I sent him a Mosaic set of Jack Teagarden. LP version.

I am interested in finding a source of this stuff. Ideas?

Re: What TV shows are you watching?

He's a naturally frenetic guy, so, like Robin Williams, when he has to play subdued he does that largely by making weird faces and taking on a very strange affect. Anyhow, I've found him pretty distracting so far. (Just to give one example, it's hard to understand why he was an appa...
