Re: What Movies Are You Watching? Part 1

when I see someone in a survival situation and they get on my nerves and do stupid shit then I pretty much start rooting for them to die.

Hey, that's what I do with whoever is in a chase scene (both chaser and chased)! 8-)

Scott Dolan wrote:James Caan is like Gene Hackman.

The difficulty here is that Gene Hackman's NAME is almost Hugh Jackman's name inside out. Not that anybody cares (or should) but at my age, that kind of thing can cause immense problems.

Re: What TV shows are you watching?

This one's probably not typical. For one thing, my daughter, who draws a bit, says the artwork isn't particularly good. And while it's over-the-top--it's not as over-the-top as a lot of the other ones. (I don't think Crackle puts on the best series around, generally.) Bu...

Re: What TV shows are you watching?

Been watching this anime series with my daughter on Crackle. Very nice performances of a bunch of classical warhorses. Also includes a German conductor who's a complete lech. Nodame kantâbire (2006– ) TV Series - 47 min - Comedy | Drama | Romance 8.4 Ratings: 8.4/10 from 860 users Reviews: 4 us...

Re: Trivial Annoyances

Our bed is about 100 years old and has been slowly falling apart for a long time. The last time it collapsed, about a year ago, we removed the foot board. Now, with nothing keeping the sides in on the bottom, the slats have begun to fall through on that end. So last night I figured I'd drill a ...

Re: What TV shows are you watching?

I base it on his apparent comfort when he's doing "over the top". I don't know Robin Williams personally either, actually. But it doesn't matter if I'm right in my speculation. The important thing is that when Cranston tries to do subdued, he's pretty bad, and makes a ...

Re: What TV shows are you watching?

He's a naturally frenetic guy, so, like Robin Williams, when he has to play subdued he does that largely by making weird faces and taking on a very strange affect. Anyhow, I've found him pretty distracting so far. (Just to give one example, it's hard to understand why he was an appa...

I (finally) watched the first four episodes of Breaking Bad. Very gripping, beautifully scripted stuff. I don't like Cranston, though.

In Massachusetts, Maine, and (I think) Wisconsin, tomorrow is Patriot's day.

Kind of a big deal where I live--a couple of miles from Lexington Center. Plus I think I heard something about a marathon being run around here someplace.

Re: What are you reading?

Kingsley Amis - Lucky Jim. Lots of fun! Interesting to compare this with the other university life novel I read recently, Edward Williams' 'Stoner'. Completely different in almost every way. I found 'Stoner' to be the superior work, but I really dug 'Lucky Jim' regardless. The more natural comparis...
