Re: Brad Mehldau - new boxed set: 10 Years Solo Live

I bought this set over the holidays, and it's quite impressive.
His liner notes are too!

I'm a big fan of Mehldau and he does not disappoint on this one.

Re: Joey Alexander

He played with a trio, the drummer was on a little of his CD, both were young (not Joey young, but early 20's).

Joey was quite impressive.

I believe he'll be out again next summer.

I saw the posts on FB, but didn't see everything Wynton wrote, the photos brought tears to my eyes. I think this is one of the nicest things I've seen in a long time.

Re: Favorite Jazz Group Configuration

For me it's the piano trio. unless I'm feeling more up beat, then it's the organ trio with guitar and drums. unless I'm more in the mood for Tenor, Trumpet, Piano, Bass, and drums. BUT I love a swinging big band, occasionally Accordion, Cymbalom, and trumpet catch my fancy. But my favorite is the Te...

I don't log in as much as I used to, but a Three Suns Christmas tribute would be stellar!

Manhattan Transfer will perform in a tribute to Tim Hauser with another vocalist in his place.

Working on more more more.

Thanks everybody!

I'm pretty excited about this.

So, yes: in 90 - 120 days the name of the venue will change as will the menu etc.

As for the music, it's going to be great, I promise.

I have some great shows to announce very soon!

Steve Swallow "Into the Woodwork"

I love this CD, great ebb and flow, and incredible playing by all. The band is Chris Cheek - sax, Steve Cardenas - Guitar, Carla Bley - organ, Jorge Rossy - Drums. The music is a great journey, with song flowing into song, and lots of different moods and modes. They swing at times, and Steve anchors...

Re: Which jazz musician do you listen to the most frequently

Just coming out of a no music spell.....

In the last week lots of Mehldau, Jarrett, and Metheny.

On my commute to work, the iphone shuffles, but seems to have favorites too.

Wayne Shorter, Kevin Eubanks, and Kurt Elling seem to come up in the rotation a lot.
