Re: Beach Boys.

Hey BT. Since what's relevant is the extent to which I edit, I'm repeating an earlier post that I've since edited. You're welcome! Here it is: Since you've dug yourself deeper and deeper in your own bullshit about the Beach Boys, nothing you've asked, nothing you've said is relevant, thoughtful or ...

Re: Beach Boys.

You're in way over your head. Gotta side with Steve on this one. Like any of us, you sometimes post well beyond your knowledge. As is the case here. You once schooled me on those controlling drones. I was well beyond my depth, even though I prided myself on the subject. Listen up, and learn. It's a...

Re: Beach Boys.

Since you dug yourself in your own bullshit about the Beach Boys, nothing you ask, nothing you say is relevant, thoughtful or mature in any way. The fact that you fail to see this only highlights that point. I'm done wasting my time on this. Please go away. You're singlehandedly lowering the level ...

Re: Beach Boys.

Yes I keep editing my posts. Because I keep being blown away by the endless variety of ways your response to me was unresponsive and absurd. And I figure that just by sounding coherent and literate, I score big points in this particular contest. I'm sure you, as a surfer, know all about what today'...

Re: Beach Boys.

What you and your fellow latter day surfers feel about the Beach Boys being "jokes" as surfers is about as relevant to their influence in their time - musical and otherwise - as what girls who wear bobbie sox today think of Frank Sinatra. I can't even imagine a less compelling or thoughtf...

/quote] Your conclusion that the Beatles were a much greater influence on music than the Beach Boys is correct. But you minimize Brian Wilson's influence. .Among the important or major pop/rock/r&B artists who have covered Wilson/Beach Boys songs are , Alex Chilton, Wire, Red Hot Chili Peppers,...

Re: Beach Boys.

Good, bad, or ugly... the Beach Boys are not in the same Universe of influence, or importance as the Beatles. Seriously, when you have Count Basie and Sinatra covering you. Even taking into account Coltrane....just how many people would even know who Ravi Shankar was without the Beatles? And that's ...

Building, and or putting things together isn't what bothers my wife....since I am really good @ that. It's sitting through 10,000 hours of subtitles.....and directors cuts of them. Scenes from a Marriage, Fanny & Alexander, or A Brighter Summer Day. Don't even get her started on Béla Tarr, or An...

Re: Music: literary or painterly?

To me....music, paintings, pictures tell a story. The stories they tell depends on the individual(s) and their life to that point....and it's ever changing as we go through our lives.

Speaking of salad bars. Piazza Hut salad bars in China had a rule that you only got one plate and were allowed one trip to the salad bar, which lead to some amazing WTF? creations. For obvious reasons....most of them no longer have a salad bar.

Re: What TV shows are you watching?

I liked Orange is the New Black a lot. After a few shows I was a bit indifferent but it really grew on me. It was fun. I was surprised to find that much of the high-level story on which the series is based is true. Not the details so much but Piper's story. As I said before....it starts off slow, b...

Yet, it seems like with Bryce Harper there is a lot of anti-Puig feelings/comments that I don't get from fans/players/reporters.
